Jubilee Crafts !
Hello! My name is Kaylynn Melton; however, I’m mostly known by the alias 'Miss Lily' when I'm teaching. I am an interdisciplinary artist and a mother originally from Fort Worth and I now newly reside in Oak Cliff. I have studied Painting at East Central Community College and received my certification in Visual Design Graphics from Full Sail University. Currently, I am pursuing a degree in interdisciplinary studies of Creative Writing and Illustration, with a concentration in children’s book illustration, at Rocky Mountain College of Art and Design. As I expand in my studio discipline and my studies, I am actively pursuing my goal of becoming a teaching artist, who advocates for the arts in my community.
I have experience as an event manager from my time at Arts Fort Worth. I also have worked creatively with JUSTUS Arts Entertainment, collaborating with Renown Griot Storytellers Oba William King, DeeCee Cornish, & Baba Leo Hassan, who introduced me to the art of Storytelling.
In the Summer of 2023, I started a program called Storytime Crafts in collaboration with the Lancaster Veterans Memorial Library's annual 9-week summer reading event. Since then, I have renamed the program Jubilee as a tribute to the cultural impact of the artists we learn about and in celebration of the wonderful children I meet. My mission is to spread joy to more young crafters and to promote a positive self-image while inspiring wonder and pride in their unique creative expression.
