What do we offer?

Guided walks and rides to help you find some new and safe ways to transform your A to B commute and visit local gems

Help you plan safe routes for your everyday active journeys - whether that be a new way to work, the school run, or to your favorite coffee shop

Bike buddying - we'll join you for first ride to school, work or service you use, and provide any tips on route management to make sure you're happy with the route

Cycle maintenance sessions on Thursdays from 4pm - 6:30pm

Learn to ride a bicycle, cycle and scooter skills, cycle confidence - all ages welcome!

Short-term loans of our fleet of bikes and e-cycle trials

Loan of our e-cargo bike for local businesses and organisations to try for deliveries

Dr Bike/Scoot checks - like and MOT for your bike or scooter every Monday and Tuesday in our active travel centre located inside Birtley Library

Cycle security marking (registering bikes on the database the police use in case of theft)

And many more seasonal events and activities - stay in touch!

Additionally, we offer volunteering and work experience opportunities for all ages and specialist support for local schools and organisations. Pop by and see us at the Birtley Library, or email birtleyactivetravelcentre@walkwheelcycletrust.org.uk and we can sort something out to meet your needs.
