The Arne Slettebak OSU Planetarium
The Arne Slettebak OSU Planetarium is fulldome digital theater and planetarium located at The Ohio State University. It is situated in Smith Laboratory in the heart of the academic core on north campus. The planetarium originally opened in 1968 and has served OSU students and the central Ohio community for the past 50 years giving audiences views of the heavens and walking them through the night sky.
In June 2012, the planetarium closed for a yearlong renovation going from the original opto-mechanical star projector to a new digital projection system. Located on the 5th floor of Smith Laboratory, the 63-seat 30-foot diameter is still a gateway to the heavens and sends visitors on a journey amongst the stars.
Above the Arne Slettebak Planetarium is the Smith Lab Observatory, currently housing a 12-inch telescope. We offer "roof nights" several times a year where anyone can join us in peering deep into the sky with our scopes. Visitors are also able to interact with real astronomers from the OSU Department of Astronomy during these events.
Information on all of these events can be found on our website http://planetarium.osu.edu.
