Founder of M for Menopause (Madhu Kapoor)
Madhu, a proud British South Asian woman, began her journey of empowerment and advocacy following a life-changing encounter with menopause. At 50 and after 23 years in HR and Recruitment within the Department of Work and Pensions, she found herself navigating severe menopause symptoms unaware of what was happening to her body and mind. The lack of understanding and workplace support led her to resign from her role, sparking a deep personal mission to ensure no one else endures the same experience in silence.
From this turning point, Madhu founded M for Menopause, a platform dedicated to education, awareness, research and support around menopause in both workplaces and communities.
Her mission is to:
Educate and empower organisations through workshops and training for leaders, managers, and employees.
Champion diversity and inclusion, amplifying the voices of underrepresented individuals affected by menopause.
Promote open, honest conversations to break down the stigma and silence surrounding menopause.
Madhu is also a forthcoming author of “Working Through Menopause,” one of the first books offering practical guidance on balancing health and career during menopause. She has served as a committee member for the British Standards Institution, contributing to the development of the UK’s workplace standard on menstruation and menopause.
Building on her mission, Madhu is currently working on research focused on South Asian women living in the UK, aiming to better understand their unique experiences and challenges around menopause. This vital work will help shape more inclusive policies, resources, and conversations for generations to come.
Passionate, relatable, and deeply committed, Madhu brings both personal experience and professional insight to every panel, talk, and training session she delivers. Her work continues to foster understanding, compassion, and change.
