Forest Bathing Edinburgh
We are a specialist provider of guided forest therapy experiences in Edinburgh, supporting wellbeing through calm, sensory-based time in nature. No swimming is involved, instead we use all five senses as we move through the forest, to connect with nature and to provide relief from the stress of everyday life.
Forest Bathing Edinburgh was founded by Maria Mackenzie, BSc (Hons), a certified Forest Bathing Guide based in Edinburgh. Maria’s journey into forest bathing began during the Covid lockdowns, a challenging period marked by bereavement and episodes of ill health. Seeking space, quiet, and relief from stress, she found herself regularly drawn to nearby woodland. These slow, mindful walks among trees brought comfort and noticeable health benefits long before Maria understood the growing body of scientific research supporting forest bathing (which originated in Japan, and called shinrin-yoku). Inspired to learn more, and to offer others the same sense of grounding and calm, she completed professional training as a forest bathing guide.
Today, Maria combines personal lived experience with professional training to guide forest sessions in Edinburgh. Her approach helps people slow down, reconnect with nature, and experience the deeply restorative effects of time spent in woodland. Sessions are suitable for individuals and groups seeking stress reduction, emotional wellbeing, and a renewed sense of connection to the natural world.
