Art of Fire by Sharon
Sharon Bechtold is a third-generation artist who has been creating and selling her work professionally since 1986. Growing up surrounded by a family tradition of craftsmanship and creativity, she inherited both a deep respect for artistic discipline and an enduring love of the natural world.
Sharon specializes in wildlife pyrography on live edge wood, combining engraving and the rich tones of burnt color to capture animals in intimate, lifelike encounters. Each piece begins with the unique shape, bark, and grain of the wood itself, allowing the natural material to guide the final vision. The result is artwork that feels alive—elegant, minimalist, and deeply connected to the earth it’s created from.
For Sharon, art is more than visual expression; it is a vehicle for conservation awareness and a call to look closer at the beauty and fragility of the natural environment. Her wildlife portraits are not only technically skilled, grounded in classical techniques and advanced color theory, but also speak to the heart, awakening a sense of wonder and responsibility toward the living world.
In addition to creating original works, Sharon shares her craft through workshops, encouraging others to slow down, observe carefully, and discover the joy of creating with natural materials. By blending artistry, heritage, and environmental reverence, her work stands as both art and advocacy—an invitation to connect more deeply with the wild beauty around us.
