Watercolors Brunch In FULL BLOOM Greenhouse Effect

Watercolors, an event designed for us by us, was birthed to celebrate the Black culture. So, join us this year as we assemble under the theme “In Full BLOOM" -The Greenhouse Effect.

Just as there is safety in a greenhouse for plants to grow regardless of their surroundings, Watercolors envisions our time together as a sanctuary for our community to come together and thrive even as things around us may appear harmful or detrimental.

That’s why it only makes sense to continue to utilize this event to champion the change we wish to see. And that change is a commitment to ALL people. We can’t continue to live in silos – separating ourselves by education, zip codes, and economic status. Just think how the future would have changed if Harriet Tubman, after becoming a free slave, said “I’m good” and left other slaves behind, denying them their chance at freedom.

That’s why we're excited to continue to build upon an infrastructure that now seeks to give space for our well-being, especially in Grand Rapids, where there are hurdles and barriers that threaten not only our physical well-being but also our economic well-being. Health disparities are a direct correlation to economic disparities and vice versa.

Therefore we are elevating this year’s Watercolors with a keynote speaker to help ignite that change. The breaking of bread biblically is coming one with Christ; symbolically, we will become one as a community in what we hope could end up an unbreakable bond.

As always, in addition to the delicious meal, there will be a backdrop of live entertainment and photo booths to seal this moment.
