The English Language Poetry Hour (ELPH) will be a series of remote one-hour discussion sessions for ULACIT students, mostly about U.S. poetry. Each ELPH session will focus on a particular renowned poet and a few selected works. These sessions aim to promote English language learning as well as interest in English language poetry. They also support the Global Classrooms initiative between ULACIT and Montgomery College, that begins officially in Fall 2021.

Professor David Lott has taught English composition and literature, as well as English as a Second Language at Montgomery College, Maryland, U.S., since 1992. Among other honors, Professor Lott has been recognized in his home country with a NISOD Excellence Award in 2021 (National Institute for Staff and Organizational Development), with a Montgomery College Outstanding Faculty Award in 2019-2020, and with a Smithsonian Faculty Fellowship in 2018. Most recently, his poems have been accepted for the literary anthology This Is What America Looks Like (December, 2020), Beltway Poetry Quarterly (April, 2021), and Train River Covid-19 Anthology (forthcoming). He is the poetry editor at The Sligo Journal and an associate editor at Potomac Review, both literary publications in Maryland.
