Connecting women through craft to share a common purposeThe Nest Community is a registered charity in Brisbane, with a mission to preserve craft heritage and encourage hand making skills, sustainability practices and skill sharing.Founded in 2014 by social entrepreneur Roz Holt, the organisation is self-funded by their social enterprise The Nest Haberdashery that supplies preloved craft and sewing supplies.Staffed by over 120 volunteers, the haberdashery is the heart of the organisation. Funds raised from the social enterprise and regular craft stalls help run the community's free mentoring program the Exchange Project, teaching hand making skills to vulnerable teenage girls from local high schools.The Nest Community also offers affordable creative workshops to introduce new generations of women to the therapeutic qualities of craft and creativity.
